Sungai Watch:
Protecting Indonesia’s Rivers
Each year, millions of tons of plastic pollute Indonesia’s rivers and oceans, endangering marine life and local livelihoods. In Bali, the Sungai Watch community project is leading the charge in cleaning up these waterways.
Founded by local activists, they install river barriers, run clean-ups, and educate communities to fight plastic pollution. Their mission is to make every river in Indonesia plastic-free.
Our Commitment: For every traveler, Mimpi Nusantara Asia donates IDR 15,000 to support river clean-ups, waste barriers, and education efforts. By choosing us, you support plastic-free travel in Indonesia and help protect fragile ecosystems.
Munti Gunung:
From Poverty to Opportunity
Back in 2004, Munti Gunung in northeast Bali was one of the island’s poorest regions. Families had no access to clean water, healthcare, or a steady income. Many women and children were forced to beg in tourist areas to survive.
Everything began to change in 2006, when Future for Children, a Swiss NGO, and Yayasan Dian Desa launched the Munti Gunung Community Development Program.
The community began a new chapter, creating three social enterprises: food production, handicrafts, and community-based trekking tours. Today, child mortality has decreased, families have steady incomes, and women no longer need to beg.
Our Commitment: We support community-based tourism in Bali by including Munti Gunung treks in our itineraries, sourcing their handmade goods and sharing their story. Every purchase helps preserve culture and improve lives.
PKP Community:
Empowering Women-Headed Families
In many parts of Indonesia, women are the backbone of their families and communities. The PKP Community (Perempuan Kepala Keluarga – Women-Headed Families) supports women who are heads of households — often single mothers — by helping them build sustainable livelihoods.
Through training programs, small-scale enterprises, and community-based tourism projects, PKP provides women with financial independence, dignity, and the chance to pass opportunities on to the next generation.
